Supply of Vector Images - Line Artwork
Artwork can be supplied using Adobe Illustrator up to version CS2 or Corel Draw to Version 8. Acceptable file formats would be; *.ai, *.eps, *.cdr. Other line drawn vector files such as *.wmf may also be compatible.
- Please note Quark Express Files are incompatible.
- JW Plant are PC based, Mac users should therefore supply an Adobe Illustrator file. This must be saved as Illustrator EPS up to version 10 and post script level 1 or 2. Select PC compatible.
- All vector files must have their fonts converted to curves, or have the fonts embedded into the file if saved as text.
- Images should be saved at a scale of 1:1, and proportioned correctly to its positioning on the final medium.
- Drawings should generally be created without the use of outlines. If a key line is required around a particular letter or object, this should be created by the physical use of a boundary, not merely by the addition of the outline tool. If the outline tool is used please ensure that the line width is scaleable. JW Plant cannot be responsible for outline widths which do translate to the correct size if the ‘scale with image’ check box is not highlighted.
- If your artwork contains both vector and bitmap forms please supply these in any of the following ways:
- As separate files one containing the vector image in curves, with the location of the bitmap marked
- As a vector file with the bitmap embedded, please ensure that the bitmap is embedded in the right format see below.
- Covert all to a bitmap - see notes below on the supply of bitmap images.
*please note this is an example
Additional Information
- Please supply a physical print in colour, or with colours clearly marked to check against the output of digital artwork. JW Plant cannot be held responsible for image inaccuracies, if this physical check is not provided.
- Please ensure all details as to size, orientation, finishing and material specification are provided with the artwork. Any changes to these once work has commenced will be chargeable.
Supply of Bitmap Images - Graphic or Photographic Artwork
- Artwork can be supplied using Photoshop CS2 or Photopaint 7. Acceptable file formats are *.psd, *.cpt, *.tiff, *.jpeg.
- Please ensure all files are saved in a PC format. We would strongly recommend the use of Tiff files (LZW Compression is advisable) instead of jpegs. jpegs often result in the loss of detail due to the nature of the compression.
- For graduated or 4 Colour Process screen printed work please supply the file in a scale of 1:1 at a minimum resolution of 50dpi. At a scale of 1:10 this resolution should be 500dpi.
- For digitally printed images please supply as a Tiff file, in an LAB, or RGB colour format. The file should have a minimum scale of 1:3 at a file resolution of 254dpi.
Supply of Colour References
- Appliquéd work will be produced against the nearest stock shades of material. Please supply coated pantone references or a colour swatch for matching. Where a specific colour is required the material can be dyed, in which case a coated pantone reference, or colour swatch will be required. CMYK or RGB colour references cannot be used.
- For screen printed work please supply a coated pantone reference or colour swatch. CMYK or RGB colour references cannot be used.
- For digitally printed work supplied as a bitmap, the file should be saved in an LAB 24bit colour format. If a colour management profile is assigned please indicate which profile this is. We suggest using an AdobeRGB1998, SRGB IEC619662-1, or colormatch RGB profile. Please do not assign specific printer profiles. Please note that due to the variation in monitor, printer and software interpretations of colour, a bitmap image where provided, and in particularly one supplied in a CMYK or RGB colour format, may exhibit colour variations. In these instances we cannot guarantee a colour match and the result must be accepted unconditionally.
- If a vector file is supplied for digital print please supply the pantone references either as LAB colours or Uncoated Pantone references. Should other colour references or a colour swatch be provided, we will endeavour to produce a best possible match.
- At the time of order we can supply colour swatches for appliqué or screen printed work, should they be required. For digitally printed material an A4 print of the final image can be supplied for colour approval. (This would be chargeable).
Supply of Non Digital Artwork
- For appliquéd and screen printed products please supply a good quality print no larger than A4 in size. Where possible this would be better supplied as a black and white copy for scanning with a separate colour copy provided for colour lay-up.
- For digital production please supply either a good quality print, or transparency for scanning. Please note the final print quality will be directly related to the quality of the artwork, picture, drawing etc. from which we start.
- Please note that JW Plant has the facilities to design, redraw, and touch up most items or artwork if required. Such an operation does not form part of our production set up costs and will be chargeable. All costs relating to any such work will be discussed prior to commencement.
